This waymark is for an entry point (trailhead) for the Sentier NB Trail, which is in development to be 2,400 km of all season, shared-use recreational trail that will travel throughout the province of New Brunswick. This trail will be connected to the Trans Canada Trail which (when completed) will be the 23,000 kilometers, from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arctic Oceans, the world’s longest network of trails, developed and promoted by a non-profit registered charity. (So far, 16,800 kilometers are developed and in use).

The Sentier NB trail has several subdivisions, and this portion is about 75 kilometers (46 miles) in total length, and includes hiking/walking on the well-developed trail thru farmland, marshlands, near the tidal bore, and in areas where it will be easy to watch migratory waterfowl. The stretch from Dieppe to Sackville is built on an abandoned railway (locally known as the Tantramar Trail), thru Acadian dike lands and thru lush young woodlands, across inland freshwater swamps and scenic salt marshes on Port Elgin on Bay Verte.

The hiker can choose to hike the trail as a linear pursuit, or can plan to hike in a loop by continuing onto other trails that connect with this one. There are detailed maps with suggested iteneraries on the main website: (visit link)
