This monument, on a base of concrete is made of carved slabs of tree trunk that have been modified and painted to create this monument at Legion #1 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

The slabs of wood, sliced from tree trunks, and carved show evidence of the tree rings when you go up close and observe them in the right light.
The legion is found near the heart of downtown at 99 Pownal Street.
In 2011 this legion increased its membership over the previous two years to 446 persons.
The poppies, leaves and maple leaf come together for a truly unique memorial.
