"Die Festung ist einer der am besten erhaltenen Bestandteile des kaiserlichen Festungssystems der Stadt Olomouc. Ihre Geschichte geht bis in das Jahr 1850 zurück, in dem die damalige Baustelle mit dem Besuch des Kaisers Franz Josef I. und des russischen Zaren Nikolaus beehrt wurde. Die dekorative Ausführung des Haupteingangs wurde im englischen neugotischen Windsor-Stil gestaltet. Es handelt sich um ein permanentes Fort, das in den Jahren 1850 bis 1854 nach einem Projekt des Geniedirektors und obersten Projektanten der Fort-Festung Olomouc Julius von Wurmb aufgebaut wurde. Das Areal umfasst ungefähr 60 000 m2 und ist als ein immobiles Kulturdenkmal der Tschechischen Republik eingetragen worden.
