À l'extrémité ouest de la Place des Etats-Unis se dresse une statue du Marquis de La Fayette et George Washington, en joignant les mains. Le sculpteur Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, est le concepteur de la vénérable don colossal de la France aux États-Unis, qui se iconique port de New York, la Statue de la Liberté.
La statue est presque le double des chiffres grandeur nature, l'artiste dépeint le général Lafayette comme l'émissaire de bonnes nouvelles au général Washington: la France a été l'envoi d'aide militaire à ses patriotes contre les Britanniques pendant la Révolution américaine. Lafayette et Washington se tenir en haut d'un socle de marbre blanc grand. Écrit sur ??deux côtés du socle, en français, est la suivante:

At the west end of Place des Etats-Unis stands a statue of the Marquis de Lafayette and George Washington, clasping hands. The sculptor, Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, is the venerable designer of France’s colossal gift to the United States, which stands iconically in New York harbor, the Statue of Liberty.
The figures of the statue are almost double life size. The artist depicted General Lafayette as the emissary of good news to General Washington: France was sending military aid to his Patriots against the British in the American Revolution. Lafayette and Washington stand atop a large white marble plinth. Written on two sides of the plinth, in French, is the following:
