Safety Town has been a popular program for the youth in Lawrence Park for years. It's basically a small layout of a town with streets and buildings where children drive bikes and pedal-cars and learn about traffic safety.
In 2012 Safety Town moved to Harborcreek, specifically to Klein School. It is still mainly run by the original sponsors, Lawrence Park Lions Club and the Lawrence Park Poilce Chief but is also assisted now by the Harborcreek School District.
Safety Town takes place in June and this year the program also covered stranger danger, playground, pedestrian, fire and school safety, and more. New this year was water safety, focusing on where and when not to swim.
A note to Waymarkers... The buildings are only setup during the actual program in June but the streets are there year round. Because this is located at a school, weekends and hours when the school is closed is recommended for visits.
