Carsten Tank Nielsen (1818–1892) was a navy officer and the first director of the Norwegian Telegraph Office. In 1850s he led the works on building the country's first cable telegraph network.

His memorial in Dombås is a tall stone with a bronze portait standing on a lawn near the local church. There is an inscription in Norwegian:

Telegrafdirektor Carsten Tank Nielsen
* 1818 + 1892
Det norske telegrafvaesens grundlaegger
