Launched in 1959 the USS Blueback is a diesel-electric submarine of the Barbel class. It's “teardrop-shaped” hull was first used on subs of this type. The Blueback was decommissioned in 1990 and was the last non-nuclear submarine in the U.S. Navy. Volunteers have maintained the Blueback since its arrival, at OMSI, in 1994. The Blueback is open for tours during daylight hours. Tech Tours and Camp Ins can also be scheduled.

The Historic Naval Ships Association gives a brief history of the Blueback.
