The memorial stands at the waterfront near the Norwegian Maritime Museum at Bygdøy. It was created by sculptor Joseph Grimeland, unveiled on September 27th 1980 by King Olav V and it pictures a crew of a sinking ship.
The site is accessible from Oslo city center by a bus or ferry ride.
