The northern part, about a fifth of the surface, of Lake Maggiore is Swiss territory (canton Ticino). The west bank of the Italian part belongs to the Piedmont region, the east bank is in the Lombardy region.

The exact tripoint is south of Brissago, Switzerland and west of San Bartolomeo, Italy. It is about 1.5 kilometers from dry land and there is no marker.

I chose an easy accessible point in the south of Brissago for the coordinates; some of the pictures are made from a ship, these are closer to the real point.
