In 2000 more than 800 people lost their lives due to extreme flooding in the Mekong Delta and the economic damage caused by the flood was assesed at more than US$ 400 million. (visit link)

According to our pictures, the lowest to the highest recorded water levels were: 2003, 2009, 2007, 1997, 2006, 1994, 2004, 1999, 1995, 2011, 2001, 2002, 1996 and 2000 (marked with blue paint).

We arrived by boat to visit this Cham commune Mosque (WME3MC). Children of the village showed us these water marks on the pillar of a house near where we docked.
