The Lao provincial capital of Phonsavan City is the gateway to the famous archaeological site, and one day (hopefully) World Heritage "The Plain of Jars". Around town it seems that everyone can hook you up with a tour of the Jars, plus everything else of interest within a day's travel, however, for some official information head here, the Phonsavan City tourism office.
This office is located on the eastern side of the town, on one of the two main roads. Your tour bus will stop here on its way to the Jars to get authorisation to do so. Inside is a single room with lots of useful historical displays, plus information about destinations in the region. Also maps of the town and the province.
