Fell Foot Park is at the southern most end of Windermere, which is England's longest inland lake. The park is owned by the National Trust and has many visitors each day. There two parking areas. Canoeists want the southern parking, which is a short walk down to the water's edge.
Parking/put-in/launching information:
Southern most parking area. Walk down to water's edge.

Paddling conditions to be expected:
Windermere is a flat water lake, and is narrow at this southern end. Be aware of winds. Travel south from Fell Foot and it is still flat water but with a slight current as the River Leven starts here.

Difficulty of the trip:
New comers stay close to the launch point. Experienced canoeists will travel further.

Length of trip: 1 - 12 miles

Portages:
no portages

Permits required:
Parking costs only. Fishing by permit. Wild camping on islands.

Type of trip:
If returning back to Fell Foot, no shuttle needed. But when travelling the length of the lake, a shuttle is needed.

Other information:
Several of the islands on Windermere have been used for wild camping, particularly Silver Holme, Ling Holme and Blake Holme (the author's Wild Cat Island).
