The cycling path runs in the place of the demolished section of the Gorenjska railway line from Ljubljana to Tarvisio.
History:
The building of the line started in the spring of 1869 and it was opened on 14th of December 1870.
Its highest point was the Planica station (853 m).
The traffic between Planica and the Italian border stopped running in 1956.
On the 1st of April 1966 the trains stopped running also between Jesenice and Planica, the track was demolished.
Today:
The cycling path from Mojstrana to Kranjska Gora and on to Planica offers a possibility for a nice and easy family trip.
You can start your cycling trip from each side - from the west from Mojstrana or from Kranjska Gora or Planica in the east.
There is also a parking possibility quite close to the bridge by the side of the Jesenice-Kranjska Gora road, which makes it a drive-in.
