In the East Providence village of Rumford, is the Seven Stars Bakery, which is located in the old Rumford Chemical Works complex.
The Seven Stars Bakery is located on the Greenwood Avenue side of the complex, not far from the intersection with Newman Avenue. You can enter from the Greenswood Avenue side, or from the parking lot inside the complex.
The place is spacious, with the counter more or less in the center of the space, and plenty of small tables inside or outside. The web site claims that all of their breads and pasteries are made daily, where they "don't use any mixes, additives or preservatives; just real eggs, real butter, unbleached flours and some organic whole grains." Several kinds of bread are baked, including Olive, Challah, and Pumpkin Seed bread. Pasteries include Danish, scones, and biscotti.
I had a turkey sandwich and an iced chai - and was very satisfied with them!
The Rumford Center is a converted factory, the Rumford Chemical Works, which made various products, including Rumford Baking Powder. The company stopped manufacturing at this location in 1966. The complex is a mixture of commercial and residential spaces.
