This sensor is identified as United States Geological Service (USGS) station number 09512162, National Weather Service (NWS) identity IDXA3, and Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) identity 162F9E84. The gauge is located on the upstream side of the Curry Road bridge, 1/4 mile north of where Indian Bend Wash flows into Tempe Town Lake. The basin monitored by this gauge is highly urbanized, covering an area of 82 square miles.
Period of Record: October 1992 to present. Flood Control District of Maricopa County provided daily values prior to installation in April 1993.
Gauge: Water-stage recorder. Datum of gauge is 1,162.45 ft above sea level.
Remarks: Natural flow of wash affected by urbanization and partly regulated by artificial lakes upstream.
Extremes for Period of Record: Maximum daily discharge, 1,970 cfs on January 11, 1993. Minimum daily discharge, no flow for most days. Indian Bend Wash is generally dry.
Extremes Outside Period of Record: Maximum discharge 21,000 cfs on June 22, 1972, at a gauge 7 miles upstream (09512100).
