This 7th Century tombstone is displayed on the wall inside the church of St Cadwaladr.

There are many plaques inside the church which are detailed here in the gallery. The most notable stone which is mounted on the north wall of the nave is an old tombstone dating to the 7th century. This is dedicated to Cadfan who was the ruler of Gwynedd in this era and died in 625. Cadfan was the son of Iago ap Beli and great grandson of Maelgwyn Gwynedd.
The stone has an inscription in Latin which translates as:
'King Cadfan, the wisest and most renowned of all Kings'
It is thought that this tombstone was the first to display the Celtic Cross. Cadwaladr (who is the Saint of the church) donated the stone to the church in memory of his grandfather who was Cadfan.
