The Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden has been described as "This dynamic garden is located east of the Peabody Hotel near the Forever a Rose Garden and the Jack Fleischauer Garden. It has become the recent home of nearly 30 new pieces that will join a dozen other sculptures in the park, and along President Clinton Avenue, that have been installed since 2004.
The sculpture garden features natural terraces and walkways. There is a space to host receptions, weddings or other events as well as to allow visitors to enjoy the sculptures in solitude. The sculpture garden is made possible through the support of the Vogel Schwartz Foundation." Source
But there is so much more. There is large signature piece, "Infinity", the group titled, "Sizzling Sisters", the aptly named "Mirage" and nearly 30 more sculptures that make up the Garden's collection, and more are being added yearly.
But it wouldn't be here if it weren't for Dr. Dean Kumpuris and his vision of a memorial honoring his teenage daughter, Anne, who was killed in Egypt during a tragic train accident in 1997. And that idea of a memorial eventually became Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden. That wonderful story was told in an article in AY Magazine in October 2011. Here is the link to that article. Read it and discover what a difference a committed person can make and what is so wonderful about this sculpture garden.
