This cut bench mark is located on the Royal Hotel, an early 18th century building sited on the beachfront at Deal. The Hotel was frequented by Lord Nelson on a number of 'clandestine' visits to Lady Hamilton. It was also a dinning spot for wartime Prime Minister, Winston Churchill.

The CBM can be located on the north west corner of the hotel building, close to the road.
