The Nice train station was originally built away from the city center, however it has become part of the city centre with the changes that have occurred in Nice in the last 140 years. The station can be found in its original condition. Richly decorated balconies and the grand clock above the entrance are a few of the noticeable attributes of the building. Although much of the original character is intact the building has been improved over the years to accommodate TGV high-speed trains.
The Roman numerals below the clock indicate 1865 construction for the main terminal, however, this extension on the west side of the building is dated 1920.
