This outdoor stairway is located in Bisbee, Arizona. It connects Main Street with Maxfield Avenue. Bisbee was founded as a copper mining town in the late 1800s. Topography was no barrier to the town fathers, as Bisbee was founded and grew up in Tombstone Canyon, Brewery Gulch, and the surrounding hills. A series of stairways grew up along with the town that allowed pedestrian access between housing high in the hills with commercial enterprises in the lower elevations.
