EN: This hotel was built in 1905/1906 by architect Jost Franz Huwyler-Boller in the Art Nouveau style. This was shortly after the opening of the Albula railway line in 1903 and the owners hoped to make the village to something similar as famous St. Moritz. But these plans were not successful and the hotel suffered from major economic problems for many decades. In 1952 it was turned into a family hostel and the rooms were joined into little holiday apartments, but there were no major renovations for the next 50 years. In 2002 the old building was closed, taken over by a cooperation of former guests and other enthusiasts and carefully renovated. Because hardly anything had been done on this building for almost a century the original substance was almost completely intact and it was not that difficult to turn the hotel back into the state it had at the beginning. The renovation was very careful according to the newest standards of preservation and has still been going on after the reopening. In 2006 reconstructions of the original Art Nouveau furniture were manufactured in Vietnam, in 2007 it received an award of the Icomos (International Council of Monuments and Sites) and it became member of Swiss Historic Hotels in 2009. It was awarded "Historic Hotel of the Year 2012".

The hotel combines normal hotel rooms, family holiday apartments as well as a dormitory hostel part under one roof.

DE: Das Hotel wurde 1905/1906 vom Architekten Franz Jost Huwyler-Boller im Jugendstil erbaut. Das war kurz nach der Eröffnung der Albula-Bahnlinie im Jahr 1903 und die Eigentümer hatten gehofft, das Dorf zu etwas Ähnliches wie das berühmte St. Moritz zu machen. Doch diese Pläne waren nicht erfolgreich und das Hotel litt von Beginn an unter großen wirtschaftlichen Problemen. 1952 wurde sie in eine Familienherberge umgewandelt und die Zimmer wurden zu kleinen Ferienwohnungen vereinigt, aber es gab keine größeren Renovierungen für die nächsten 50 Jahre. Im Jahr 2002 wurde das alte Bauwerk geschlossen, von einem Verein von ehemaligen Gästen und anderen Enthusiasten übernommen und sorgfältig renoviert. Da seit fast einem Jahrhundert kaum etwas an diesem Gebäude verändert worden war, blieb die ursprüngliche Substanz fast vollständig erhalten und es war nicht so schwer, das Hotel wieder in seinen Ursprungszustand zurück zu verwandeln. Die sanfte Renovierung nach den neuesten Standards wurde auch nach der Wiedereröffnung weitergeführt. Im Jahr 2006 wurden Rekonstruktionen der originalen Jugendstil-Möbel in Vietnam hergestellt, im Jahr 2007 erhielt das eine Auszeichnung von der ICOMOS (International Council of Monuments and Sites) und wurde Mitglied der Swiss Historic Hotels im Jahr 2009. 2012 wurde es als "Historisches Hotel des Jahres" ausgezeichnet.

Das Hotel kombiniert normale Hotelzimmer, Familienferienwohnungen sowie einen Gruppenschlafsaal unter einem Dach.
