Sattahip ("Sart-Tar-HIP") is a small town on the Gulf of Thailand, in the south of the populous Thai province of Chonburi. The town is noted for its long standing fishing industry, and as the home to one of the major bases of the Royal Thai Navy. Thus it is not surprising that the welcome sign to the town is a replica lighthouse.

This lighthouse stands on a traffic circle in the main road leading into the town, adjacent to the town park. I estimate the lighthouse to be 10m tall, solidly built, and white in colour. There is a light inside the lighthouse, most likely at night it is in operation. A line of sea gulls (or some type of bird, not my speciality), circle the lighthouse. At the base of the lighthouse are nautical treasure chests (empty I am sure). The actual welcome sign is also at the base of the lighthouse. It is blue with while lettering, faces traffic entering the town, and says (in Thai), "Welcome to Sattahip". All in all, an attractive and eye-catching feature.
