Harrogate was a small town that grew during the Victorian era because of its spa waters and many hotels that offered treatments.
In 1834 when the town first started to be popular Mr Pickersgill Palliser started to publish a weekly list of all visitors to the town’s hotels and B&Bs.
From this humble beginning other people started to publish newspapers and by the early 1900s The Harrogate Herald owned by R. Ackrill Ltd. was based in this building.
