[english] After the miner's strike of 1889 in Saarland, the Prussian mining government became aware of its social responsibility to a greater extent with regard to the miners situation. Company flats and social institutions came into being for the employees. The "Old School" of Maybach was erected from 1901 to 1903 by the Prussian mining administration and served as a nursery as well as a sewing and factory school.
There were two classes in school: one for the catholic and one for the protestant children.
Today, the building is in private property and there is a paint store in it.
[deutsch] Nach dem großen Bergarbeiterstreik an der Saar im Jahre 1889 wurde sich der preußische Bergfiskus seiner sozialen Verantwortung stärker bewusst. Es entstanden Werkswohnungen und soziale Einrichtungen für die Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner der Siedlungen. Die "Alte Schule" Maybach wurde 1901-1903 von der preußischen Grubenverwaltung gebaut. Sie diente auch als Kindergarten, Näh- und Haushaltsschule und als Werkschule.
Die Schülerinnen und Schüler waren in 2 Klassen aufgeteilt, in eine katholische und in eine evangelische Klasse.
Heute befindet sich in der Alten Schule die Firma Josef Koch GmbH, ein Maler-, Lackierer-, Geruestbauer- und Stukkateurbetrieb.
[français] Après la grande grève des mineurs en Sarre en 1889, l'administration prussienne des mines prit plus fortement conscience de sa responsibilité sociale. Des logements miniers et des institutions sociales furent crées pour les habitants des cités. La "vieille école" Maybach fut construite en 1901-1903 par l'administration des mines prussienne. Elle servait également de crèche, école ménagère ainsi que d'école minière.
Il y avait deux classes: une pour les élèves catholiques et une pour les élèves protestants.
Aujourd'hui, dans le bâtiment se trouve un atelier de peintre.
