The Cathedral St. Petri is a former romanesque monastery and abbey church in northern Hesse Fritzlar (Schwalm-Eder-Kreis) which now serves as a city church. The church and monastery founded around 723/724 goes back to St. Boniface and became the starting point of the urban development of Fritzlar. The cathedral in Fritzlar is one of the historically and architecturally important monuments of Northern Hesse. Its mostly romanesque building structure is going back to a high romanesque building from 1085/90 which was renovated in the late Romanesque to a greater extent. A variety of other construction work followed in the 19th century. Its harmonic mixture is creating the look the building nowadays. Since 2004, the church holds the title of a pontificial basilica minor.

Der Fritzlarer Dom St. Peter ist eine romanische ehemalige Kloster- und Stiftskirche in Fritzlar im nordhessischen Schwalm-Eder-Kreis, die heute als Stadtpfarrkirche dient. Die Kirchen- und Klostergründung um 723/724 geht auf den Heiligen Bonifatius zurück und wurde zum Ausgangspunkt der Stadtentwicklung von Fritzlar. Der Fritzlarer Dom zählt zu den historisch und architekturgeschichtlich bedeutendsten Baudenkmälern von Nordhessen. Seine vorwiegend romanische Bausubstanz geht auf einen 1085/90 begonnen hochromanischen Bau zurück, der in der Spätromanik größerenteils erneuert wurde. Hieran schloss sich bis in das 19. Jahrhundert hinein eine Vielzahl weiterer Baumaßnahmen an, deren harmonisch wirkende Mischung das Erscheinungsbild des Domes heute bestimmt. Seit 2004 trägt die Kirche den Titel einer päpstlichen Basilica minor.
