The Kadriog Park and Palace complex was one the private estate of Russian Tsar Peter the Great and his wife Catherine I. On the park grounds, facing the swan pond, there is an old sundial, installed in 1768, protected by a glass pyramid. The gnomon is metal while the dial is made of stone. The outer circle contains Roman numerals I to XXIII, since sunsets are very late at this latitude during summer. The inner circle contains signs of the zodiac. The whole sundial is mounted on an inverse pyramid platform giving symmetry to the assembly.
Sundial Type: Horizontal - Flat base, Ground or Pedestal mounted dial plate
