This Freestanding Arch was originally constructed to commemorate residents from the Cannington area who fell in World War One. It was later expanded to include the fallen from World War Two.

On both faces on the centre of the arch is the inscription "1914-1918" and below that "Lest We Forget". The names of the fallen during World War One are listed on the front of the arch on both sides, and those who fell during World War Two are listed on a plinth at the rear of the arch.

The memorial was dedicated on 5th February 1921 by the Governor of Western Australia, His Excellency Sir Francis A Newdegate K.C.M.G. It is located in the Cannington War Memorial Park beside Albany Highway.
