The stadium was opened in April 17, 1993 and was built to be the home of the Ottawa Lynx of the International League. The team actually held attendance records, but as the interest in the team waned, so did the attendance and the team left the stadium in 2007. It was replaced in 2008 by the Ottawa Rapidz of the Can-Am League, however, after one year the team declared bankruptcy. The stadium was unused for a few years and many suggestions were made for it's use and one thought was to raze it altogether, however in 2010 the Ottawa Fatcats of the Intercounty Baseball League decided that this stadium was to be where they'd play their home games and they remain here. Although there have been rumours of a AA or AAA team coming here, nothing has been written in stone.
I have personally been here many times to see Lynx games and liked the set up of the stadium, although, there's not a lot of places to get out of the sun. In any event, let's hope Ottawa can keep this or any other franchise and keep minor league baseball in town.
Cheers
