Coudelaria Alter Real, or stud-farm “Alter Real” was founded in 1748, by King John V, and is also the stage for one of the competitions of Portugal's Horse Racing Championship.

The last horse racing event was on April 22th, 2012, which brought together the best jockeys and horse breeders who are dedicated to this sport in Portugal.
