There is a residential community of foreign evangelists in Ojeong-dong. Among the house that were mostly built from 1955-1958 in the community, three buildings in the northern section of the village were designated as historically valuable assets. In the early 1990s when most of the foreign evangelists left Ojeong-dong, part of the residence was renovated to house Indon Academy to commemorate William Alderman Linton (1891-1960) whose Korean name was Indon, and to store and display his belongings. The three buildings that were designated as Cultural Property Materials are reflecting the social situations in 1950s when traditional Korean customs started to get mixed with western culture, in that Korean style roof was put on top of a western style red brick building, and the front door worked as the main entrance of a house.

When Dr. Linton founded what would eventually become Hannam University in 1956, he may not have envisioned the significant campus that it would become with and enrollment of over 18,000 and almuni approachin 80,000 worldwide. The school has continued to honor its founder with several statues on campus and adherence to his original vision, becoming one of the leading Christian universities in Asia.

He and his colleagues built these unique homes that have been preserved on the edge of the campus and now designated as Cultural Property Material No. 44 by the city of Daejeon. They represent a fusion of the western and Korean style of architecture. The eye is drawn to the traditional Korean tile roofs, but once inside, they design and atmosphere is definitely western.

Although some of the buildings have been in use until recently as residences for foreign faculty and as the Linton Academy, at the time of this visit, April 2012, they appeared to be in a state of neglect and disrepair. Many of the buildings had heavy tarps over portions of the roofs and the interiors appeared to be deteriorated. The grounds are not overgrown at least.

On the edge of the compound is a bust of Dr. Linton and a plaque honoring the 40th anniversary of the school.
