Built in 1373, Wat Phnom (Mountain Pagoda) is located atop an artificial 88.5 ft hill near the Tonle Sap River in the northeast section of Phnom Penh. The area is very popular with both locals and visitors.
The clock is located on the south slope of the hill and is facing National Highway 5. It is a gift from China to Phnom Penh in 2000 and it replaced the old clock from France. It was not working when we visited it.
The clock is made of well-groomed grass surrounded with a small green hedge. It has a diameter of approximately 65 feet and has metal hands and dots to mark the hours.
