The station provides fire protection as part of the Kiewa Valley Group.
It is equipped with a 3.4C tanker based on a Hino GT Series 500. The 3.4C tanker is a firefighting appliance used by the Country Fire Authority. The 3.4C stands for 3750 Litres of water, Four Wheel Drive and Crew Cab. The 3.4C does away with the old ROPS system from previous version of the tanker, whereby three people sat on the back in a shelter which was open to the elements and two (driver and crew leader) remained in the cab.
My visit on Easter Monday was not helpful in identifying the stations equipment, and there may be other fire appliances available.
Country Fire Authority Yackandandah Fire Station was opened on the 27th of August 1987 by the Acting Chairman of the Country Fire Authority, Mr N.L. Marshall.
The Country Fire Authority (C.F.A.) is the main firefighting service in Outer Metropolitan Melbourne and the rest of the state of Victoria. The C.F.A. is one of the largest firefighting services in the World.
