Aspenvale Cemetery is located on property that was once the home of General William Campbell. General Campbell is regarded as the “Hero of King’s Mountain,” as he led colonial forces to victory against the British forces under the command of Major Patrick Ferguson.

As resting in the Aspenvale Cemetery is Elizabeth Henry Campbell, the General’s wife and sister of Patrick Henry. The General’s immediate family rests her, including his only child, Sarah Campbell Preston, her husband General Francis Preston and the General’s grandchildren.

Also resting in and adjacent to the Campbell Family plot are the veteran of five wars beginning with the American Revolution and extending to World War II.

The Aspenvale Cemetery is located on private property but can be visited with the permission of the property owner.
