City of Tours is famous for many bridges crossing the river Loire - one of them, suspension bridge of St. Symphorien (Le Pont de Saint-Symphorien), built in 1847, serves nowadays only for pedestrians and bicycles.

Le Pont de Saint-Symphorien, work of architect Marc Seguin, was opened for public use in September 1st, 1847. This steel suspension bridge with cable-carrying pole span 80 m is 240 m long and connects Loire river banks and island Aucard.
