Cho Ben Thanh Bus Station—Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - Bus Stations on Waymarking.com

This station is located on the southern side of a busy, wide traffic circle, in central HCMC. It is also known as the 'Ho Chi Minh City Bus Center'. Not so much a single structure, but rather a series of small buildings, from which different bus companies offer their services. Tickets here will take you to anywhere in the City and to the surrounding areas. Longer distance travel is handled by tour companies and agents located along the nearby Pham Ngu Lao Road (backpacker and vagabond central).

The station is easy to spot, the centre of the traffic circle has a large, equestrian statue of Tran Nguyen Han (a famous Vietnamese King). The station is also opposite the famous (for tourists) Ben Thanh Market, where, once upon a time bargains could be had—they still can, but one must brush up on one's bargaining skills.

This is a fairly noisy, busy place, even tricky to walk to as you must first cross many lanes of busy traffic. I was first here in 1994, back then sedate. Now, at midday, I was hustled and bustled around (great fun), motorbike taxis were whizzing past, a hands breath away from the passing traffic, women selling food from baskets, screaming kiddies. I suspect that the station is due for a makeover.
