Faye-Luther Trail System
The Faye-Luther Trail currently provides the only public trail access from the Carson Valley into the Carson Range of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The trail system is a joint effort of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest-Carson Ranger District, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)-Carson City District-Sierra Front Field Office, the American Land Conservancy, and the Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA).
The Jobs Peak Ranch Trail represents a victory in the ongoing struggle of securing access to government land on the east front of the Carson Range in the face of the unprecedented and rapid development of western Nevada. Thanks to efforts of the Carson Valley Trails Association, a 1.5-mile hiker-only trail allows travel between Foothill Road and Forest Service land above through Jobs Peak Ranch subdivision.
Parking at this trailhead consists of 6 paved parking stalls - 1 designated for disabled parking.
Fay-Luther Trail System
The Fay-Luther Trail System is an 8.9 mile network of linear and loop trails with a connection to the Jobs Peak Ranch Trailhead. These trails are open to mountain bikes and equestrians except for the trail section between Valley View Loop and the Jobs Peak Ranch Trailhead. A majority of these trails have sandy soils, making it difficult for mountain bikes. Dogs are allowed year-round and must be leashed October 15 through March 30 to protect wintering mule deer. There is no trail access to Jobs Peak. Please stay on designated trails only and respect neighboring private property.
These trails travel through both high desert and forested habitats. Some common vegetation includes Big Sagebrush, Rabbitbrush, Bitterbrush, Curlleaf Mountain-Mahogany, Jeffrey Pine, Singleleaf Pinyon and White Alder.
The Interpretive Loop Trail has interpretive signs about the areas human histories, fauna and flora, and landscape forces.

Jobs Peak Ranch Trail
The Jobs Peak Ranch Trail is generally considered the first 1.5 miles from the Jobs Peak Ranch Trailhead that is located on a Douglas County easement through private land. This trail is open to hikers only and dogs must be leashed year-round. No bikes or equestrians. This is a conditional requirement of the trail easement across private land. Please follow these regulations to keep this trail open to the public. The trail then continues through USFS and BLM public land and connects to the Fay-Luther trail system and trailhead. The entire length of this trail between the two trailheads is 3.5 miles.
This is a sandy trail traveling through high desert vegetation including Big Sagebrush and Bitterbrush. It then climbs upward into forested vegetation, crosses a small creek with cable steps and travels through a small, lush riparian area. After a short, steep climb, it continues across a private road and reaches public land about 100 yards past the road crossing. There is no trail access to Jobs Peak. Please stay on designated trails only and respect neighboring private property.
