Catedrala Ortodoxa din Cluj-Napoca este o constructie ampla, monumentala, ridicata între anii 1923-1933. Edificiul îmbina forme de arhitectura româneasca cu cele de factura bizantina.

Opera a arhitectilor Constantin Pomponiu ?i George Cristinel, constructia este ridicata pe planul unui triconc cu doua turnuri pe fa?ada sudica, are o volumetrie robusta care subliniaza fiecare din functiunile spatiului interior si culmineaza cu o cupola ridicata pe un tambur cu galerie cu arcade.

Exteriorul este placat cu placi de piatra si decorat cu un repertoriu bogat de motive geometrice. Un piedestal care sustine un ?ir de coloane conduce la intrarea în catedrala. În interiorul larg se remarca tribunele ale caror parapeti sunt sculptati cu motive de inspiratie brâncoveneasca. Pictura a fost realizata de Catul Bogdan si Atanasie Demian, iar iconostasul a fost realizat cu motive brâncovenesti de G. Rusu.

Orthodox Cathedral in Cluj-Napoca is a broad construction, monumental, built between 1923-1933. The building combines architectural forms with Byzantine Romanian.

Work of architects George Constantin and Pomponiu Cristinel, construction plan is built on a conch with two towers on the south facade, has a robust volumes interior underlines each function, and culminates with a high dome on a drum arcade gallery.

The exterior is clad with stone slabs and decorated with a rich repertoire of geometric motifs. A pedestal supporting a series of columns leading to the entrance to the cathedral. In general interior stands stands whose parapets are carved with motifs inspired Brancovan. The painting was done by Catullus Bogdan and Demian Athanasius and iconostasis was made ??by G. Rusu Brâncovean motifs.
