The public library in Bussum was founded in 1913. At that time, a new building was built at the Generaal de la Reylaan. This building still exists in our days. It has been converted into a pharmacy. The building itself has been recognised as a national monument (Rijksmonument).
The current building has been in use since the early 1990s. It has a vast collection of books, CDs, DVDs, sheet music, digital files, and a collection of books of the region 't Gooi.
