In the Chestnut Hill section between Boston and Newton, is Boston College, a large university that is known for its academic as well as athletic excellence. In the center of the campus is the football stadium, known as Alumni Stadium.

The present stadium was first built in 1957, to replace Alumni Field that was located elsewhere in the campus. This stadium had a seating capacity of 26,000. At that time, it also had a track. In 1995 major renovations were completed in time for the football season that eliminated the track and added seating, resulting in a capacity of 44,500, new scoreboards and instant replay screens, a new and improved lighting system, a state-of-the-art public address system, new concession and restroom facilities and a beautiful brick and glass exterior facade, according to the Boston College web site for the stadium. In 2005, the Yawkey Athletics Center was completed, and an artificial turf surface was installed in the stadium.

The stadium has seating on all sides, with the usually sidelines having the highest stands. There are two main entrances - a north and a south entrance (multiple gates at each entrance). The north entrance is the more formal entrance, and it has a statue of perhaps the football teams most famous player, Doug Flutie, in the immortalized pose where he was about to throw the "Hail Mary" pass. At the time of the visit, there was an inflatable structure on the field. The Wikipedia article states that this structure is erected so that the stadium can be used for winter exercises.

The stadium has been used on other occasions, including for the 1969 season home games of the then Boston Patriots, and the site for commencement ceremonies.

I could not find a reference to an actual store at the stadium, though I'm sure that there is a bookstore or similar place on campus. The web site has an online store, however (there is an option on the Boston Eagle Athletics web site).
