DER STIFTER - Johann von Sieberer
(11.10.1830 - 27.4.1914)
Johann Sieberer wurde am 11. Oktober 1830 in Going bei St. Johann geboren. Er selbst wurde früh Waise und erhielt Schutz des Erzbischofes von Salzburg. Dieser ermöglichte Johann von Sieberer das Gymnasium in Salzburg zu besuchen, welches er am Franziskaner – Gymnasium in Hall in Tirol fortsetzte.
Die Familie Schwarzenberg ermöglichte Johann von Sieberer angesehene Anstellungen. 1860 wechselte er durch die Vermittlung des Fürsten Johann Adolf zu Schwarzenberg zur Versicherungsgesellschaft „Österreichischer Phönix“, deren General-Inspektor er wurde. Durch diese Kontakte sammelte Johann von Sieberer ein enormes Vermögen an.
Ende seines fünfzigsten Lebensjahres beschloss Johann von Sieberer sein Vermögen in Stiftungen zum Wohle der Allgemeinheit einzubringen.
Seine Wohltätigkeiten begannen 1885 mit dem Bau des "Von Sieberer`schen Waisenhauses". 1907 steuerte er 630.000 Kronen (eine Krone entsprach 1910 ca. 4 Euro) für den Bau des Kaiser Franz Josef Jubiläums-Greisenasyl bei, welches am 29. August 1909 von Kaiser Franz Josef persönlich eingeweiht wurde.
