MT - Université de Montréal - Montreal, Qc, Canada - Herbaria on Waymarking.com

The "Institut Botanique" was based at the University of Montreal in 1920 at the instigation of Frère Marie-Victorin.

Frère Marie-Victorin collected hundreds of plant species along the Saint-Laurent River valley.

The botanical pavillon of the Université de Montréal is located besides the Jardin Botanique de Montréal, which opened in 1931.

The MT Herbaria incorporated the followings :

MTJB (50 000 specimens) in 1982
QPAR Herbier Lucien Lévesque (10 000 specimens) in 1996
SFS ( specimens from outside Québec -51 220 specimens) in 2006
UQAM (10 000 specimens) in 1990
