El Morro National Monument I visited this interesting monument while on a road trip through the great southwest earlier this year. It can be a quick visit or a longer one, depending on how much of this monument you feel up to exploring. Personally I would suggest taking the hike to the top of the bluff, as the landscape and the views are amazing. El Morro is a historical place, it features a small waterhole at the base of the bluff that Native Americans and early settlers would stop at, make camp, and inscribe either a marking or their names on the stone cliffside. Most of these carvings have been preserved and can still be seen there today.
