"Die Wichtigkeit des Weißen Goldes (Salz) für die Stadt Bad Reichenhall ist unumstritten, hat es
doch dem Ort schon früh zu Macht und Reichtum verholfen. Als Wahrzeichen und

Die Kapelle, die gleichsam über dem Salinenbau

Die Salinenkapelle ist dem heiligen Rupert, dem Schutzpatron des Salzwesens, geweiht. Nach dem großen
Stadtbrand im Jahr 1834, dem das Salinengebäude und die Salinenkapelle zum Opfer fielen,
verfügte der bayerische König Ludwig I. einen Neubau. 1841 erfolgte die Grundsteinlegung
für das neue Hauptbrunnhaus und die Brunnhauskapelle, die 1849 fertiggestellt wurde und

The importance of the 'White Gold' (salt) for the town of Bad Reichenhall is undisputable. It helped the town early to power and wealth. The Old Saline qualifies as a landmark and prestige object for the 4000 years history of salt.
The chapel "thrones", placed above the Old Saline, is considered a jewel in the Romanesque Revival style.
The Saline Chapel is consecrated to St. Rupert, the saint patron of salt. After the Saline building and the Saline Chapel fell victim to the great city fire in 1834 the Bavarian King Ludwig I disposed a new building. 1841 occurred the foundation laying ceremony
for the new Hauptbrunnhaus and the Brunnhauskapelle, which was completed and celebrated their first service in 1849. - 4000 years of salt history.
The Old Saline(Alte Saline)/Saline Chapel is listed on the German Monument List.
