The old wash house of Riehen is located at Weilstrasse in the north-west of Riehen.

The wash house was built in 1862 by town council Samuel Stump. The main reason were complaints of local farmer who did not want soap in the town fountains they used to water their cattle. The total cost of the wash house including the bridge over the river were 2397.20 Francs. In 1935 it had to be renovated, the upcoming of private washing machines lead to a resizing to about half of the original size. It was still used for some years and became abandoned in the 1950s.
It has been renovated since then and there were unsuccessful plans for a new use. There were some acts of vandalism, so the wash house has been closed and is not accessible by the public anymore.
