I was going into Cooke's one day and noticed the Heritage Award in the front window and thought, hmmmm, here is a perfect waymark as this store has maintained as much of it's historical look as it had in the early 1900's. I remember when this store was Wingfield's Jewellers and I thought that when they left, the historical significance of the place would be lost, but not so. The fascade hasn't changed much in the last 75 years and the inside of the store is vintage all around from the shelves to the rope driven fan blades. If ever there was a store that deserved an award like this, it's certainly Cooke's. Oh yes and there food, while a little pricey, is to die for.
