Cette poutre de suspension a été installée sur le pont de la tour Eiffel, connu auparavant sous le nom du pont de la rue Montcalm.

Le texte inscrit sur une plaque près du pont de la tour Eiffel se lit comme suit:

"Morceau de la poutre de suspension de l'ancien escalier sud de la tour Eiffel offert par Monsieur Jacques Chirac, Maire de Paris, à Monsieur Michel Légère, Maire de Hull.

Ce morceau de la Tour Eiffel vient ainsi signifier visiblement, physiquement et mentalement l'identité culturelle de la ville de Hull et son appartenance à la culture française."

This suspension beam has been installed on the Eiffel Tower Bridge, previously known as the Montcalm Street Bridge.

The text on a plaque next to the Eiffel Tower Bridge reads as follows:

"Piece of the suspension beam of the old south staircase of the Eiffel Tower offered by Mr. Jacques Chirac, Mayor of Paris, to Michel Légère, Mayor of Hull.

This piece from the Eiffel Tower, visibly, physically and mentally confirms the cultural identity of the city of Hull and its adherence to the French culture."
