The Irondale Viewing Platform is a covered, elevated platform at the edge of the NS right of way. Several benches are provided for sitting. Access to the platform is from First Avenue North. Adequate free parking is available.

The platform is just west of Norris Yard on the NS mainline. Trains are moving slowly entering or departing the yards. Some switching action is visible from the platform. (More can be seen from the street by driving a few blocks east of the platform.) While this is near NS trackage, run-through locomotives from UP, CR, and KCS can be seen. The AMTRACK Crescent also passes the platform.
