Der Planetenwanderweg führt durch die barocke Parkanlage der Karlsaue.
Die Sonne ist ein riesigen Strahlenkranz am Eingang des Planetariums.
Der Maßstab der Anlange beträgt 1:495.000.000 und da die Sonne maßstabsgerecht dargestellt ist, beträgt ihr Durchmesser nur 2,81 m. Direkt vor der Orangerie liegt die Karlswiese, umrandet von Wegen.
Folgt man diesen, kann man in den korrekten Abständen die Planenten finden, die die Sonne umkreisen.
Man trifft auf dem Wanderweg am rechten Rand der Karlswiese als erstes nach 121m auf den Merkur, dann auf Venus, beide sind etwa haselnußgroß. Auch die Erde ist am Rand der Karlswiese zu finden, sie hat die Größe einer Walnuß. Als nächstes folgt der Weg der Sichtachse von Orangerie (und Sonne) an Mars vorbei zur Schwaneninsel im Aueteich, wo auf dem Dach des Tempelchens Jupiter als stattliche goldene Kugel von 29cm Durchmesser zu finden ist.
Er liegt in 1572 m Entfernung von der Sonne auf seiner Bahnellipse.
Der Saturn schließlich, bereits außerhalb der Aue, und, seit 2002, noch der Uranus, markieren das Ende des Weges.

The 'Planetenwanderweg', a walk along our solar system leads through the baroque landscaped park Karlsaue.
The sun is a huge painting on the entrance to the planetarium in the Orangerie. The scale is 1:495.000.000 and as the sun is to scale the diameter of the sun 2,81m.
In front of the Orangerie is an open area of lawn, called the Karlswiese, surrounded by walkways.
Following those walks, one can find in the correct distances the planets of our solar system, to scale in size and distance.
On the right hand side of the lawn one finds after 121m Mercury, than Venus, both the size of a hazelnut. Also Earht is found on the right hand side of the lawn, it is about as big as a walnut.
Next the way is following the long vista from Orangerie (and sun) past Mars to the Swan Island in the lake, where on the roof of the gazebo Jupiter as sizeable golden Ball of 29cm diameter can be seen.
Jupiter is in 1572m distance from the sun on its ellipse.
Saturn at last as well as Uranus have both their markers placed in the city, but are well outside the park, as their distance to the sun is quite far.
Every planet has its sign to give information to the interested.
