This is something of an unusual station, first, the sizeable lack of photos. This is due to the fact that this station is also a Singaporean immigration checkpoint, and Sing immigration have a strict no photos policy. So, the only photos I could take are looking back from the taxi stand. Past this point the road curves away and no further photos are possible. There is also a rather distinctive attitude present that discourages prolific photograph taking.
The station is large, with lots of guards, barbed wire, and signs warning that you might be shot. There are separate areas for inbound and outbound travellers. Ticketing can take place here, but it looks as if most people buy their tickets from agents in the city or maybe online. One disembarks, proceeds through customs, and then exits the station via one flight of steps (or an elevator) to a bus stop and taxi stand. No loitering. There is a nearby underground train station. Surprisingly, just about zero tourist information present.
This station is new, it became operational, so I am told in mid 2011, and is a marked break with the past. For decades Malaysian trains stopped at a colonial era art-deco station near the city centre, and for decades the Sing government has discussed creating a new station. It finally did so.
To enter the station I am fairly certain that one must have a ticket and passport—no casual visits. No sign of food or drink. Some might label this as a very slightly not friendly place, but not me. Waymark made near the bus/taxi stand.
