Thabana Ntlenyana, which literally means "Beautiful little mountain" in Sesotho, is the highest point in Lesotho and the highest mountain in southern Africa south of Kilimanjaro. It's situated on the ridge of the Drakensberg mountains near Sani Pass

The easiest way to the top of this peak is to take the road up Sani Pass from South Africa, once there the best is to book into the Chalet or nearby back packers further up the road. There are either the option of attempting the hike under your own guidance or to make use of one of the local guides which is a better option as there is no real path to the top. I would suggest taking the road up to Black mountain pass and from there you will follow a trail to a river below the mountain. From the river up it is a tough slog to the top... But the views are wonderful if you are blessed with a clear day.

As always this should not be attempted without taking along the gear normal for such high altitude climbs. This place can have 4 seasons in one day... be prepared. one minute it is bright and sunny and half a hour later it could be snowing.
Altitude in Feet: 11424
